Piedmont, Our Small Town

Why We Chose Piedmont: Debbi’s Story

Debbi’s roots run deep in Piedmont, where she attended Wildwood Elementary School, Piedmont Junior High (now Piedmont Middle School), and Piedmont High School, graduating in 1982. She continued her education at UC Berkeley, graduating in 1987. The very qualities that made Piedmont a great place for Debbi growing up are what inspired her and her husband, Adam Betta, to return and raise their family here.

Top-Rated Schools
Piedmont is renowned for its exceptional school system, consistently ranked among the best. To attend these prestigious schools, families must reside within Piedmont. With just under 800 students, Piedmont High offers a private school experience within a public school setting, catering to grades 9-12.

Strong Community Ties
Piedmont is more than just a place to live; it’s a close-knit community where neighbors look out for each other. Many children grow up together, forming lifelong friendships from their early days in Piedmont Park. Despite these deep connections, the community remains welcoming to newcomers, making it easy for new families to feel at home.

Small-Town Charm with Urban Access
Piedmont offers a small-town atmosphere where kids can grow up feeling safe and connected, without being isolated. Its proximity to the cultural richness of Oakland and Berkeley means residents enjoy easy access to shops, cafes, boutiques, and diverse dining options.

Convenient Transportation
Piedmont’s location is ideal for commuting and travel. Just a 20-minute drive from San Francisco, the town is easily accessible via BART, bus, car, or even an informal carpool. The East Bay’s transportation network provides multiple routes to favorite destinations, unlike Marin County, where options are more limited.

Proximity to Top Destinations
Debbi loves that Piedmont offers easy access to world-renowned destinations. Day trips and weekend getaways to places like Lake Tahoe, Napa, Sonoma, Pebble Beach, Carmel, Monterey, and Big Sur are all within reach. The nearby Oakland airport makes trips to Park City, Scottsdale, Las Vegas, Beverly Hills, and even Cabo San Lucas quick and convenient.

Community Involvement and Giving Back
One of Debbi’s favorite aspects of Piedmont is the community’s commitment to giving back. Piedmont families and students actively support local schools, community organizations, and those in need. Students have numerous opportunities to participate in philanthropy, from the popular Mexico Trip through the Piedmont Community Church, where they build homes for families in need, to involvement in the National Charity League and Boy Scouts. Piedmont fosters a spirit of service and leadership in its youth, preparing them to be compassionate, active citizens.

Piedmont is a community where families are deeply involved, caring, and committed to making a difference.
