Comprehensive Solutions for Seniors: A Team You Can Trust

Did You Know? As Baby Boomers age, they’ll significantly impact the senior living market, creating both challenges and opportunities. By 2030, the 80+ population will grow significantly, with many boomers seeking senior housing as they transition from independent living.
Demand and Trends:
  • Growing Demand:

The number of seniors, especially those aged 80 and over, is projected to increase dramatically, leading to a surge in demand for senior housing and related services.

  • Shifting Preferences:

Boomers are known for their independence and desire to maintain their lifestyle. They are looking for senior living options that cater to their individual needs and preferences.

  • Focus on Affordability:

While some boomers have financial resources, many face challenges in affording senior living or long-term care. This highlights the need for more affordable options and the potential for government assistance.

  • Demand for Home-Based Services:

While many boomers may eventually choose senior living, a significant portion still prefers to age in place, leading to increased demand for home health services.

Finding Senior Communities and Services:
  • Online Resources:

Numerous online resources and directories can help seniors and their families find senior living communities and services. The California Department of Aging (.gov) offers resources for senior housing options.

  • Local Resources:

Check with local Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) for information on senior programs and support services in the Piedmont area.

  • Consider Location:

Factors like proximity to family, medical facilities, and desirable amenities should be considered when choosing a senior community.

  • Research Communities:

Visit and tour different senior living communities to assess amenities, services, and community culture.

  • Assess Needs:

Evaluate the level of care needed, such as independent living, assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing care.

  • Financial Planning:
Understand the costs associated with different levels of care and explore options for financing long-term care.

This is why The DiMaggio Betta Group is working to educate Baby Boomers, their children, family members, and caregivers, who not only will become Seniors themselves, one day but who might also be the current caregiver of their parents and grandparents.

Real Estate Advisor, Debbi DiMaggio, along with Kimberly Sweeney—owner of Moving Angels, Certified Senior Move Manager, and Collectibles Advisor—has assembled a trusted team of professionals dedicated to supporting seniors with a wide range of needs.

From Long Island to Montclair: Crafting a Vibrant New Chapter in Retirement

I’m always on the go, but these incredible clients of ours make it look like I’m standing still! Finding Community in a New Town: Meet Alan and Carole from Long Island, New York. Our joyful, energetic clients, Alan and Carole, have embraced life in the Bay Area with open arms. They’ve shared a heartwarming note highlighting the incredible activities and events they’ve discovered, showing just how much this vibrant community has to offer. Their story is a beautiful reminder that new beginnings often lead to wonderful adventures and connections.
Alan and Carole
Since moving to the Montclair Village it was important for us to continue pursuing the social life we enjoyed back in Long Island. We joined Meetup.com which led us to join groups like: Hiking and Improvisation (I taught Improv for years); Walnut Creek-East Bay Over-60 Social Group (where we have met many couples by bonding with good conversation, food and wine); Live Jazz & Blues (attend Jazz events all over the East Bay); Casual Short Story Book Club (we read short stories based on an authors collection, meet at a local bar and over drinks and conversation we discuss the stories.). Since moving we have often gone to Riggers Loft in Richmond to listen to live music; The Back Room for Jazz, The Monkey House for music and entertainment, Yoshi’s and The Sound Room (for Jazz). We are huge fans of The Moth, a monthly entertainment held at Freight and Salvage and we also attend Freight and Salvage for various musical events. Regarding theater, which was very important in our lives, we joined the Shotgun Theater in Berkeley, attend shows at Berkeley Rep and Berkeley Playhouse. I am always looking out for unusual events and a few weeks ago we attended Pub Choir held at August Hall in San Francisco.  It was a fun evening with 800 of us learning a song in 3 part harmony, rehearsing it several times before being filmed. Carole’s interest in photographing street art has led her to join several Photography Meetup groups that meet in SF once a month. It has also led us to discover many neighborhoods in the East Bay as well as in Sacramento, Livermore. Carole has an instagram page: @BrooklynCarole where she posts, on a daily basis, photographs of the street art she has shot all over the world. Through her interest she has met and interacted with many of the artists. To fulfill our cultural needs we joined both SF MOMA and the de Young Museum! We are a fun loving Senior couple that enjoy meeting new people, going on hikes, attending cultural events, joining museums and spending time with our family who live in both East Bay and Marin County.

We’re absolutely thrilled to see Carole and Alan make such a wonderful transition, and it’s been an honor to be part of their journey. They were kindly referred to us by a past client—a gesture we truly value and appreciate. Helping clients move into their next chapter is always a joy. I hope their story brought a smile to your face, just as it did to mine.  Allow the DiMaggio Betta Group to help you with your next move, your next chapter?  It would be an honor.

PS. And who knows? You might be inspired to follow their lead and try one of their exciting activities yourself!

Downsizing and Your Best Next Chapter

In 2015, which seemed as if it were just the other day, we hosted a seminar at the Piedmont Center for the Arts for homeowners who have resided in their home for 20 years or longer, it was called, Demystifying the Downsizing Process. Flash forward to today, 2022. We listed and are selling the home of one of our attendees. She even kept the memo pad I handed out with the book we wrote, The Art of Real Estate.  The memo pad was one of the many things uncovered as she purged and packed for her relocation and new chapter.

Here are 5 questions to see if you are ready or almost ready to make the move and downsize your home.

  1. Have you resided in your home for over 20, 30 or 40 years?
  2. Are you living in your home alone, and/or is your home too large for your current needs?
  3. Are you overwhelmed with the thought of making a move?
  4. Are you interested in accessing the cash in your home?
  5. Do you have questions about the process?

If you answered yes to any or all of the above then allow us to guide, counsel and discuss the possibilities and layout your options.

Simply book a complimentary consultation to get started.

Our goal is to educate, guide, be a resource, connect and refer you to those who can help make this next chapter seamless. Allow us to do what we do best which is to facilitate the process with ease, experience and our extensive knowledge.

We look forward to helping you with all of your real estate needs.
